Marco Perduca
BACK
Representative of the Italian Radical Party at the United Nations and Former Italian Senator

Marco Perduca is an Italian politician born and raised in the city of Dante. He has served as a senator from 2008 to 2013. His passion for politics began in the early nineties at the University of Florence, where after two years of doctoral studies in Pisa and Liverpool, he decided to move to New York in 1996. Upon his arrival he quickly began coordinating campaigns for the Nonviolent Radical Party, the Transnational and Transparty for the International Criminal Court, an international drug policy reform movement at the United Nations and to promote a universal moratorium on the death penalty. Taking a stand against violator’s of human rights, in 1998 he and 5 other fellow researches traveled undercover through the Balkans collecting evidence that a year later would help incriminate Slobodan Milosevic before the Tribunal for the Former Yugolsavia. In 2000, and again in 2002 and 2004, he directed the campaign that protected the rejection of the Radical Party from the UN, proposed by both Russia and Vietnam (a memoir of the ordeal will be published at the end of April). He served for a couple of years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 2008 he was elected to the Italian senate. He writes a blog on Huffingtonpost.it.
