Organized by an NYU Florence student Madison McCormick
With each passing day, social media and technology are increasingly becoming extensions of ourselves. From the smartphones in our pockets to the computer screens in front of us, the process of expressing oneself and producing creative outputs has drastically changed over the years. Through social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, words are becoming more fluid, new acronyms or #hashtags are trending, and, thus, contemporary written language is transforming at a pace almost immeasurable. This, no doubt, presents many challenges as well as opportunities for innovation among writers and poets.
NYU Florence student Madison McCormick will moderate a conversation with Italian, English, and American writers, poets, and publishers about these challenges and how they have approached writing in the contemporary world. Come explore questions like “has writing become more individualized or dependent of the collective as a result of technology?” and ask some of your own!
