During Fall 2015, on the occasion of the EXPO Milan 2015 ´Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life´, the International Expo hosted by Italy this year,  NYU Florence will explore the importance of food in contemporary society and its political and cultural significance. Food is fundamental to sustain human life and is at the center of science, technological and international politics. The environmental stress on food production/agricultural land, water, the unequal distribution of food, the increasing population of earth and strain it will put on food supply - could be the source of increasing international tensions.

Students will have the special opportunity to visit the International Expo 2015 ‘Feed the Planet, Energy for Life’ held in Milan and to meet important international actors who will provide an inside look at the food industry, the role of international organizations and non-governmental organizations in the promotion of food security and nutrition, the fundamental role food plays in our daily lives, the way it is represented through art.
