Recent events across North Africa and the Middle East have fuelled hopes that the world may be witnessing the birth of new democracies with unprecendented levels of public participation on the ruins of long-standing autocracies. The political dynamics are complex and outcomes are uncertain. La Pietra Dialogues brings a panel of journalists who have been reporting from the region together - including Max Rodenbeck, The Economist´s Chief Middle East Correspondent; Bridget Kendall, BBC Diplomatic Correspondent; and Francesca Paci, La Stampa´s Special Middle East Correspondent - to share their insight into what is taking place on the ground, how recent crises are likely to unfold and their analyses of the prospects for long-term democratization in the region.
