Filmmaker Jonas Carpignano (New York-Rome) will discuss his two award winning films - Mediterranea (2015) and A Ciambra (2017) - which explore the complex issue of immigration in Italy in the context of the films and working methods that inspire him. Both debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and were nominated for multiple awards, including Best First Feature (Mediterranea) and Best Director (A Ciambra) at the Independent Spirit Awards. Martin Scorsese co-produced A Ciambra, which was Italy’s entry for best foreign film at this year’s Academy Awards.
