The Documentary Photography | Through the Lens series, curated by NYU Florence Professor Alessandra Capodacqua, explores photography as a visual language to communicate ideas and to reflect on the intersection between the personal and the public.

Renowned international documentary photographers are invited to present their work and to discuss the importance of documenting and communicating about our world through photography.

A special series of workshops allows students to work in small groups with the photographers, who share their experience and expertise in an intimate group setting, provide practical training and individual feedback on students´ work.

Past guests include Peter Bialobrzeski, Paolo Woods, Martin Kollar, Monika Bulaj, Alessandro Imbriaco, Tommaso Bonaventura, Phillip Toledano, and photo collectives Cesura and TerraProject.
