LEARN GET INVOLVED CREATE A DIALOGUE INTERNSHIPS NEWS & OPPORTUNITIES
             
 
 

NYU Florence students are invited to submit a proposal to organize a Dialogue on an issue that is important to them. 

Past semesters students have organized dialogues on sustainability in the fashion industry, Italian politics, the Papal elections, the contemporary global poetry scene, Italian immigration, integration and identity through sports, Florence´s contemporary art market and the street art scene in Florence. 

Interested students should send a short paragraph explaining their idea to lapietra.dialogues@nyu.edu

Selected students will be invited to work with the LPD team to develop a proposal and to realize their dialogue.

A note to Liberal Studies students: The Liberal Studies program supports a number of LS student organized dialogues every year!

 
 
LS Freshman Isabelle Caraluzzi organizes a Dialogue on Climate Change - Spring 2016  

LS Freshman Isabelle Caraluzzi, pioneer of NYU Florence´s first ´Sustainability Squad´, a student group that worked towards ´greening´ NYU Florence´s campus, organized a Dialogue on Climate Change and the Economic and Environmental Potential of Sustainable Innovation. Three experts from Climate-KIC, a research group supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology based in Bologna, came to campus to talk to students about some of the projects they are supporting, how private enterprise and innovation can contribute to developing and implementing sustainable solutions, and what students can do to get involved. GLS Senior Andreas Petrossiants returns to NYU Florence to moderate our Mapping Contemporary Florence Dialogue! - Spring 2016  

GLS Senior Andreas Petrossiants returned to NYU Florence this past Spring to moderate the Dialogue ´Contemporary Art in Florence´ with some of Florence´s most important contemporary culture actors. Andreas spent his Junior year abroad in Florence and did his experiential learning placement for GLS at Florence´s Palazzo Strozzi Museum. His senior thesis research investigated how specific artists, movements, curators, exhibitions and institutions from both Modernism and Post-Modernism relate to Contemporary Art, taking Florence as one case study. Watch a video of the Dialogue. After the Dialogue Andreas helped lead students on a Contemporary Art Gallery Crawl throughout the city. Claudia Cereceda organizes a Dialogue on Italy´s Refugee crisis - Spring 2015  

GLS Junior at NYU Florence Claudia Cereceda organized a Dialogue on the refugee crisis in Italy last Spring, bringing experts from the International Organization for Migration, the Italian Council for Refugees and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to campus to speak with NYU Florence students. Madison McCormick explores how technology has impacted the creation and publication of poetry in different countries - Spring 2015  

Madison McCormick, a GLS Junior organized a dialogue that explores how technology has impacted how people create poetry and how it is distributed to the public. Will and James from the Belleville Park Pages and Italian writers Alessandro Raveggi and Vanni Santoni joined in the discussion.
